SUCCESS ROUTINE
Maya Angelou only wrote in small hotel rooms. Jack Kerouac made sure to touch the ground nine times before sitting down to write. Think about your days. How are they structured? What triggers your creative (and productive) mind? Are you consciously structuring your days with this trigger in mind?
Whether it’s waking up early, working in a specific location, or hitting the weights first thing in the morning, you need to find a trigger that gets you into rhythm – your rhythm. When you design a healthy daily routine that starts automatically every morning, you save lots of mental energy for the creative thinking that comes naturally when you find yourself in your rhythm. Through this personalized routine you will bring out your most intuitive work
.
Of course, your routine will change occasionally due to evolving circumstances. The idea is that you make the necessary adjustments and maintain a routine that works – one that maintains the necessary triggers and rituals to develop and nurture your creative mind, and to ultimately do the work necessary to get you from where you are to where you want to be.

Remember, it’s always better to be at the bottom of the ladder you want to climb than the top of the one you don’t.. Let go of putting things off for one more day. – Stop procrastinating.  Stop wishing for it and start working for it.  Do what you have to do today so you can do what you truly want to do, and be where you want to be, tomorrow. ITS A NEW YEAR!  :)
Keep going.  True purpose has no time limit.  True purpose has no deadline.  Don’t stress and overwhelm yourself.  Just do what you can right now.

“Don’t aim at success.  The more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it.  Success cannot be pursued, it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of your personal dedication to a cause greater than one’s self.”  So think bigger.  Be a part of something greater than yourself.  This engagement brings happiness, success, and meaning to your life. The byproduct will be success.

Most of us spend way too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important.  In other words, productivity is not just about getting things done, it’s about getting the right things done.  At the end of each day, look at how you have spent your time, and adjust the allocation as necessary for tomorrow.  Do your best to get rid of your schedule’s complexities so you can spend more time on the things that matter.  This means fine-tuning and eliminating all but the essential tasks, so you are left with only the ones that add value to your life.  And above all, know when to set aside the important things for the vital things, like family.

"My mistakes today prove that I am a failure.” – This mindset will drive you and everyone around you crazy.  Finish each day and be done with it.  You have done the best you could.  Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forgive and forget them as soon as you can. Remember, your failure does not define you, your determination does.  Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, smarter than before.  Tomorrow is a new day.  You shall begin it peacefully and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with old nonsense.

Many of your greatest accomplishments in life will come when you are able to bless someone else while you are going through your own storm.  So regardless of what’s going on in your life, be gentle and kind.  Think before you speak and act.  Always remember that the words and actions you choose can only be forgiven, not forgotten.  You were made to make a difference, so embrace every opportunity to do so.  No act of your kindness, no matter how tiny, will ever be wasted.

Those who complain the most, accomplish the least.  It’s always better to attempt to do something great and fail than to attempt to do nothing and succeed.  It’s not over if you’ve lost; it’s over when you do nothing but complain about it.  If you believe in something, keep trying.  Don’t let the shadows of the past darken the doorstep of your future.  Spending today complaining about yesterday won’t make tomorrow any brighter.  Take action instead.

PATIENT EDUCATION

Please copy this article to your office stationary, print them and hand these to your patients this week. The more connected you are to your patients, the more connected they will be to you. Which translates into referrals, payment and less missed appointments.

Music legend Ian McLagan has died of complications related to a stroke. He was discovered in his home in Manor last night after he failed to show up for a band rehearsal. He was 69. McLagan was rushed to University Medical Center Brackenridge and placed on life support. He passed away this afternoon at 2:39. "He was a beloved friend to so many people and a true rock n roll spirit," McLagan's manager Ken Kushnick said in an e-mail. "His persona and gift of song impacted the music across oceans and generations."
Though the British Invasion may have led the way, the Small Faces weren’t far behind in the 1960s, with a pounding pub rock driven by McLagan’s keyboard. McLagan’s Hammond B3 swirl would also drive the sound of Rod Stewart and Faces in the 70’s. In later years, McLagan made his home in Central Texas, rekindling his career both as a solo artist and a sought-after sideman recording with the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan, among many others.
In recent years, McLagan had undergone a series of treatments for debilitating migraines. "I've been on about five, six medications over the period of the last 9, 10 years," he told KUT in 2010. "I was starting to feel suicidal."

"I walked on the stage of the Lucky Lounge one Thursday night and didn't know what the hell I was doing. I started one song about four, five times. I made a joke out of it, but I knew it was the medication and I decided I was going to stop it," McLagan said. "I never took it again, and I actually should have [instead] slowed it down." "I've taken all kinds of medications. Nothing really does it, frankly. Honestly, I think pot is the only that's a real distraction for me and I wish they'd make it legal," he said.  McLagan was set to begin a tour with veteran rocker Nick Lowe in Minneapolis.

Being busy is often a form of mental laziness – lazy thinking and indiscriminate action.”  This is a way of saying “work smarter, not harder,” which happens to be one of the most prevalent modern day personal development clichés.  But like most clichés, there’s a great deal of truth to it, and few people actually adhere to it.Just take a quick look around.  The busy outnumber the productive by a wide margin.

Busy people are rushing all over the place, and running late half of the time.  They’re heading to work, conferences, meetings, social engagements, etc.  They barely have enough free time for family get-togethers and they rarely get enough sleep.  Yet, business emails are shooting out of their smart phones like machine gun bullets, and their daily planner is jammed to the brim with obligations.

Their busy schedule gives them an elevated sense of importance.  But it’s all an illusion.  They’re like hamsters running on a wheel. The solution:  Slow down.  Breathe.  Review your commitments and goals.  Put first things first.  Do one thing at a time.  Start now.  Take a short break in two hours.  Repeat. And always remember, results are more important than the time it takes to achieve them.
Sadly, very few Chiropractors ever live to become the success story they dream about.  And there’s one simple reason why: They never take action!

The acquisition of knowledge doesn’t mean you’re growing.  Growing happens when what you know changes how you practice.   So many people simply ‘get by’ because they never take the necessary action to make things happen.

It doesn’t matter if you have a genius IQ and a PhD in Quantum Physics, you can’t change anything or make any sort of real-world progress without taking action.  There’s a huge difference between knowing how to do something and actually doing it.  Knowledge and intelligence are both useless without action.  It’s as simple as that.

Success hinges on the simple act of making a decision – to absorb yourself in the process of going after your dreams and goals.  So make that decision.  And take action.

Have you ever met a happy person who regularly avoids responsibility, blames and points fingers and makes lots of excuses for their unsatisfying life?  Me either.  Happy people accept responsibility for how their lives unfold.  They believe their own happiness is a byproduct of their own thinking, beliefs, attitudes, character and behavior.

You’ve really got to stop worrying so much about what others think. Shut out all the judgmental and well-meaning voices, and listen to yourself only for a while.  And don’t worry if your definition of happiness seems incomplete – embracing happiness is an ongoing process.

Successful people are objective.  They have realistic targets in mind.  They know what they are looking for and why they are fighting for it.  Successful people create and pursue S.M.A.R.T. goals.

S.M.A.R.T. goals are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely.  Let’s briefly review each:

◾Specific – A specific goal has a far greater chance of being accomplished because it has defined parameters and constraints.

◾Measurable – There must be a logical system for measuring the progress of a goal.  When you measure your progress, you stay on track, reach your target dates, and experience the exhilaration of achievement that spurs you on to continued efforts required to reach your goal.

◾Attainable – To be attainable, a goal must represent an objective toward which you are both willing and able to work.  In other words, the goal must be realistic.  The big question here is:  How can the goal be accomplished?

◾Relevant – Relevance stresses the importance of choosing goals that matter.

◾Timely – A goal must be grounded within a time frame, giving the goal a target date.  A commitment to a deadline helps you focus your efforts on the completion of the goal on or before the due date.

When you identify S.M.A.R.T. goals that are truly important to you, you become motivated to figure out ways to attain them.  You develop the necessary attitude, abilities, and skills.  You can achieve almost any goal you set if you plan your steps wisely and establish a time frame that allows you to carry out those steps.  Goals that once seemed far away and out of reach eventually move closer and become attainable, not because your goals shrink, but because you grow and expand to match them.

With a little willpower, it takes roughly 30 days for a person to form a new habit.  As with mastering anything new, the act of starting and getting beyond the preliminary stage where everything feels awkward is 80% of the battle.  This is precisely why it’s important to make small, positive changes every day over the course of at least a 30 day period.

It’s like the old saying:  “How do you eat an elephant?  One bite at a time.”  The same philosophy holds true for making changes in your life.  Trying to bite off more than you can chew will only make you choke.  But taking smaller, manageable bites, one at a time – eating a little healthier, exercising a little, creating some simple productive habits, making small changes in your Chiropractic practice for example – are amazing ways to make positive changes and get excited about life.

And when you start small like this, you won’t need a lot of motivation either.  The simple act of getting started and doing something will give you the momentum you need, and soon you’ll find yourself in a positive spiral of changes – one building on the other.

Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate self-discipline as an invisible magic.  You can’t see, taste, or smell it, but its effects are unmistakable.  It can transform overweight into slim, uninformed into expert, poor into rich, and misery into happiness.  It’s the submerged part of the iceberg others don’t see when they see a person’s “genius.”

It’s easy to feel that success comes easily – that it’s just a matter of luck, or an innate gift.  But anyone who has achieved anything has done so because they’ve been able to control and direct their own inner strengths and actions to the extent that has enabled them to become super-skilled at what they do.  And this kind of self-discipline, like a muscle, can be developed by all of us, including you

Your body has five senses, but not to be ignored are the inner senses of your soul: intuition, foresight, and self-trust.  The most common differences between successful and unsuccessful people lie in their use of these inner senses. This makes all the difference in the world.

Being true to yourself takes work, because it’s so easy to get sidetracked and influenced by others.  It’s easy to get caught up in the drama.  You have to put in the effort and stand strong every day to honor your own ideas, feelings, intuitions and aspirations.

I challenge you to make this your lifelong motto: “I respectfully do not care.”  Say it to anyone who passes judgment on something you strongly believe in or something that makes you who you are.  People will inevitable judge you at some point anyway, and that’s OK.  You affected their life; don’t let them affect yours.

Let what you’ve learned improve how you live.  Make a change and never look back.

And regardless of what happens in the long run, remember that true happiness begins to arrive only when you stop complaining about your problems and you start being grateful for all the problems you don’t have.

  1. You have an interesting life and it is magnificent, even during the toughest times.  Keep this in mind, and live it accordingly.  You are in control.  Change your thoughts.  As long as you think that the cause of your problem is “out there” somewhere else – as long as you think that someone or something else is responsible for your suffering – your situation is hopeless.  It means that you are forever in the victim role, that you’re suffering even in paradise.  Don’t do this to yourself.  Be your hero, not your victim.

Wednesday, November 19, 2014

  1. If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.  Feelings, good and bad, always come and go.  The trick is to be grateful when your mood is high and graceful when it is low.

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

The most important currency in life is experience.  Money comes and goes, but your experiences stay with you until your very last breath.  So don’t be afraid to mix things up and challenge yourself with new life experiences.

When things aren’t adding up in your life, start subtracting.  Life gets easier when you delete the things and people that make it difficult.  Get rid of some of life’s complexities so you can spend more time with people you love and do more of the things you love.  Get rid of the clutter so you are left with only that which gives you value.

Sunday, November 16, 2014

What worries you, masters you.  Stress thrives when your worry list is longer than your gratitude list.  Happiness thrives when your gratitude list is longer than your worry list.  So find something to be thankful for.  And remember, pretending to be happy when you’re struggling is just a small example of how strong you are as a person.

Friday, November 14, 2014

If you feel like others aren’t treating you with respect, check your price tag.  Perhaps you subconsciously marked yourself down.  Because it’s YOU who tells others what you’re worth by showing them what you are willing to accept for your time and attention.  So get off the clearance rack.  If you don’t value and respect yourself, wholeheartedly, no one else will either.

Monday, November 10, 2014

Oftentimes, when we strive for happiness, what we are really aiming for is to feel perfect. But perfection is an illusion.

We are imperfect beings, operating in a very imperfect world, and that is just the way it’s meant to be.  Striving for perfection is a hollow goal, one that can never be achieved.

Society shows us doctored images of perfection constantly in marketing and popular media.  Do not buy into this illusion; it will only lead you into darkness.  Embrace your quirks, your flaws and the fact that life is a roller coaster at times.  Strive for excellence, have high standards… but never confuse that with the crippling behavior of perfectionism.

Rather than striving to be perfect, embrace and appreciate all the imperfections of life, and use these things to grow stronger, wiser, and more whole as an individual.

You achieve happiness over time through meaningful experiences and "service to a greater cause".

Currently the focus tends to be on "today’s must-have dose of happiness", as such we become more of a taker rather than a giver.  When we focus all of our attention on ourselves our immediate desires are met, rather than considering new ways to make a rewarding, lasting difference in our lives and the lives around us.  We prioritize "our pursuit" over all the people – family, friends and strangers – who need us.

The truth is, making a difference by giving to others is actually one of the greatest ways that we can find happiness.  There is no exercise better for the heart than "reaching down and lifting people up".  It gives us a greater sense of meaning, purpose and fulfillment and often makes us feel much more content with our lives and who we are as individuals.

“Don’t think about eating that chocolate donut!”  What are you thinking about now?  Eating that chocolate donut, right?  When you focus on not thinking about something, you end up thinking about it.

By persistently trying to move away from what you didn’t like and don’t want, you are forced to think about it so much that you end up carrying it’s weight along with you.  But if you instead choose to focus your energy on moving toward something you do like and do want, you naturally leave the negative weight behind as you progress forward.

Bottom line:  Running away from your problems is a race you’ll never win.  Move TOWARDS something instead of AWAY.  Rather than trying to eliminate the negative, focus on creating something positive that just happens to replace the negative.

Thursday, November 6, 2014

Ninety-nine percent of the time life delivers the experiences that are most helpful for your personal growth.  How do you know it’s the experience you need?  Because it’s the experience you’re having.  The only question is:  Will you embrace it and grow, or fight it and fade?

The key, of course, is to accept that not everything is meant to be.  When things don’t turn out how you expected, you have to seriously sit down with yourself and come to grips with the fact that you were wrong about it all along.  It was just an illusion that never really was what you thought it was.  It’s one of the most difficult realizations to accept, to realize that you feel a sense of loss, even though you never really had what you thought you had in the first place.

Wednesday, November 5, 2014

Today, the only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.  Prove yourself to yourself, not others.  You are GOOD enough, SMART enough, FINE enough, and STRONG enough.  You don’t need other people to validate you; you are already valuable.

If someone says “no” to you, or if someone says something negative about you, that doesn’t change anything about YOU.  The words and opinions of others have no real bearing on your worth.  Certainly it can be helpful and desirable to make a good impression in certain situations, yet it’s not the end of the world when you are faced with rejection.

It’s great to receive positive feedback, but it simply doesn’t always happen.  That’s OK though, because you know where you’re headed and you know your true worth does not depend on the judgment of others.  When you set out to make a true difference in life, there will be those who disagree with you, those who ignore you, and those who flat out reject your ideas and efforts.  Look beyond them, step confidently forward, do what must be done, and let them think what they will.

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

The only path between wanting and having is doing. There’s no getting around the need to take deliberate, focused action. Your dreams come true only when YOU make them come true. And that’s precisely what makes them worth having and working hard for.Winners win not because they’re allowed to, but because they decide to. Promise yourself something wonderful, and then do what it takes to fulfill that promise.  You were born to be a success.  Although to be successful, you must plan to be, prepare to be, expect to be, and work to be, every day.  Success is not a secret.  Success is a direction, a process, and a way of life.

Monday, October 27, 2014

You cannot change what you refuse to confront. – If you want something new, you have to stop doing something old.  If you want something you’ve never had, then you’ve got to do something you’ve never done.  The bottom line is that you’ll never leave where you are until you decide where you’d rather be.  Don’t be afraid to start over and rebuild what you truly want.

Thursday, October 23, 2014

When we feel stuck, typically our first instinct is to look outside of ourselves for someone or something to blame.  In reality, we ought to be looking at how we’re feeling, what we’re thinking, and how we plan to respond.  Your life is your responsibility.  While you can’t always change what’s outside of you, you can certainly change your perception of it.  And the funny thing is, when you change the way you look at things, the things themselves change.

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

  1. You can’t have a better today if you’re still thinking and worrying about yesterday.  Whatever could have been or should have been, doesn’t matter.  Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you have one foot on the brakes when you’re thinking about the past.  In order to free yourself, you must learn how to let go of whatever old news is keeping you stuck.  Release your regrets.  Discard yesterday’s frustrations.  Refuse to entertain old pain.  The energy it takes to hang onto these things is holding you back from a new beginning.  What is it you want to let go of today?  Do it!
  1. If you’ve been asking the same questions for a long time, yet you’re still stuck, it’s probably not that you haven’t been given the answers, but that you don’t like the answers you were given.  Remember, it takes a great deal of courage to admit that something needs to change, and a lot more courage still, to accept the responsibility for making the change happen.  Growth and change may be painful sometimes, but nothing in life is as painful as staying stuck where you don’t belong.

Monday, October 20, 2014

Are you comfortable with mediocrity and because of that choose not to try  because it’s safer?  It’s easier to talk about learning that new skill as opposed to actually learning it.  Do you think everything is too hard or too complicated so you maybe you’ll “do it someday?”

Snap out of it!

While you’re sitting around failing to try, you really need to be out there trying to fail, challenging yourself, learning new things and failing forward as fast as possible.  Your desire to succeed must overpower your fear of failure.  Because if you are too afraid of failure, you can’t possibly do what needs to be done to be successful.

Thursday, October 16, 2014

Never take the position that things just happen to you, rather they happen because of you. This mental shift will change your life. If you are willing to take credit when you win, you must be willing to do the same when you don't! Increasing your responsibility level will inherently enhance your ability to find solutions and create more success in your practice.

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Success is not something that happens to you , its something that happens because of you and because of the actions you take. Chiros who refuse to take responsibility generally dont do well at taking action and as a result dont do well in the game of success. Successful chiros accept very high levels of accountability for creating and having success for themselves and even failing to do so. Successful chiros hate the blame game and know it is better to make something happen good or bad than to have it happen to them.

Monday, October 13, 2014

A constant need to complain about those many, many, many things – people, situations, events, etc. – is doing nothing but making you unhappy and depressed.

Nobody can make you unhappy, no situation can make you sad or miserable unless you allow it to. It’s not the situation that triggers those feelings in you, but how you choose to look at it. This may be hard to accept, but it’s the truth. Your life is as YOU see it. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking (and positive action).

We see things as we see them! To be= act as if! Want to be successful in your future? Act as if you are that now!
Intuition is very real and something that is never wise to ignore, because it comes from deep within you.  If everyone else is telling you “yes” but your gut is telling you otherwise, it’s usually for a good reason.  When faced with difficult decisions, seek out all the information you can find, become as knowledgeable as you possibly can, and then listen to your instincts.  Believe in yourself.  Know that trusting your intuition is equivalent to trusting your true self; and the more you trust your true self, the more control you have of making your goals and dreams come true.
Have a plan that’s bigger than your excuses.  Confident people take ownership of their thoughts and actions.  They don’t blame the traffic for being tardy at work – they know THEY were late.  They don’t excuse their shortcomings with excuses like “I don’t have time” or “I’m just not good enough” – they make the time and they keep on improving until they see results.  Even a tiny effort is infinitely more productive than a big, impressive excuse.  So stop seeing every obstacle as an excuse and start seeing those obstacles as forming a pathway to your goals.

  1. We must consistently check with ourselves: “Am I committed to feeling good right now, or am I committed to growing?”  Either way is fine for the moment, as long as you dance between the two in the long run.  Because growth does not always feel good, and feeling good does not always provide growth.  And both are necessary states of being.
  1. Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in life.  If we were to go through our life without any obstacles, we would be crippled.  We would not be as strong as what we could have been otherwise.  So give every opportunity a chance – leave no room for regrets.  It takes courage to change and grow and become who you really are.  Your struggle is part of your story.  And it’s a story worth writing.

Tuesday, October 7, 2014

  1. Notice and cherish life’s surprises.  Just because it’s not what you were expecting, doesn’t mean it’s not everything you’ve been waiting for.  So take a deep breath when you’re rejected from something good.  It often means you’re being redirected to something better.  Be patient.  Be positive.  Keep going.

Monday, October 6, 2014

Sigmund Freud once said, “Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility.” When you blame others for what you’re going through, you deny responsibility – you surrender power over that part of your life.
Your attitude can improve your situation, or degrade it. – No matter how bad things are, you can always make things worse. Remember this. You can’t have a positive life with a negative attitude. When negativity controls your thoughts, it limits your behavior, actions, and opportunities. If you realized how powerful your thoughts were, you would never think another negative thought again.

Sunday, October 5, 2014

  1. Life is inherently risky.  But there is only one risk you should avoid at all costs, and that’s the risk of doing nothing.  Get out there and make something happen, even if it’s just a small step in the right direction.  Strive for progress, not perfection.

Saturday, October 4, 2014

  1. You’re not going to avoid change.  Change is the process of life itself.  In fact, everything is changing every single minute of our lives.  However good or bad a situation is now, it will change.  That’s the one thing you can count on.
  1. Don’t be someone who goes through greater lengths to avoid change than you do to obtain what you desire.  Your life will begin to improve when you define precisely what “improve” means to you.  The agonies and frustrations will start to ease only when you have something real and positive to replace them with.  Be specific.  Happiness is not a goal, it’s the result of a life well lived.  The question is:  How do you want to live going forward?

Monday, September 29, 2014

You’ve heard the saying, “The best things in life are free.”  Well spending quality time with family and friends, listening to or playing music, enjoying your pets, seeing your children smile, experiencing heart-felt moments with your significant other – these times are precious and priceless.  Don’t get so caught up in the rat race, working 60+ hours a week, to the point where you are too stressed and exhausted to enjoy your closest relationships.  Simplify your life, making conscious choices along the way, Work fewer hours and enjoy more of what truly matters.

Thursday, September 25, 2014

  1. Kindness is always the best response to any situation.  When you grow older and you look back on your life, you will inevitably forget a lot of the stuff that seemed so important when you were young.  You probably won’t remember what your high school or college GPA was.  You will look at your old classmates on Facebook (or some other online social network) and wonder why you ever had a crush on that girl/guy.  And you will have the toughest time remembering why you let certain people from your past get the best of you.  But you will never forget the people who were genuinely kind – those who helped when you were hurt, and who loved you even when you felt unlovable.  Be that person to others as often as possible.

Monday, September 22, 2014

The world does not owe you a living.  You owe the world a life.  So stop daydreaming and start DOING.  Develop a backbone, not a wishbone.  Take full responsibility for your life – take control.  You are important and you are needed.  It’s too late to sit around and wait for somebody to do something someday.  Someday is now; the somebody the world needs is YOU.  Focus on being productive, not being busy.  Don’t just get things done; get the right things done!

Friday, September 19, 2014

People cannot connect with you if you’re constantly trying to hide from yourself.  And this becomes a truly toxic situation the minute they become attached to your false persona.  So remember, no matter what age, race, sex, you are, underneath all your external decorations you are a pure, beautiful being – each and every one of us are.  We each have light to shine, and missions to accomplish.  Celebrate being different, off the beaten path, a little on the weird side, your own special creation.  If you find yourself feeling like a fish out of water, by all means find a new river to swim in.  But DO NOT change who you are; BE who you are.  Don’t deny yourself, improve yourself.

It’s very hard to be around people who refuse to let go of negativity – when they ruminate and speak incessantly about the terrible things that could happen and have happened and the unfairness of life.  These people stubbornly refuse to see the positive side of life and the positive lessons from what’s happening.  Pessimism is one thing – but remaining perpetually locked in a negative mindset is another.  Only seeing the negative, and operating from a view that everything is negative and against you, is a twisted way of thinking and living, and you can change that.

The truth is that what people say and do to you is much more about them, than you.  People’s reactions to you are about their perspectives, wounds and experiences.  Whether people think you’re amazing, or believe you’re the worst, again, is more about them.  So much hurt, disappointment and sadness in our lives comes from our taking things personally.  In most cases it’s far more productive and healthy to let go of other people’s good or bad opinion of you, and to operate with your own intuition and wisdom as your guide.

It’s never too late to live a life that makes you proud. We get one shot at this. There’s no age limit on changing your course, and to settle in and be stuck in a life that isn’t authentic is a tragic waste. Honestly, it’s never too late or too early to be who you are capable of being. There’s no time limit – you can simply start and stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. You can make the best or the worst of it. It’s up to you, so make the best of it. Do things that startle you. Feel things you’ve never felt before. Spend time with people who help you grow. Live a life you’re proud of. And if you find that you’re not, have the courage to make a change.

  1. One way to deal with stress and loss is to immerse yourself in doing good for others.  Volunteer.  Get involved in life.  It doesn’t even have to be a big, structured event.  Say a kind word.  Encourage someone nearby.  Pay a visit to someone who is alone.  Get away from your self-preoccupation for a while.  When it comes down to it, there are two types of people in this world.  There are givers and there are takers.  Givers are happy.  Takers are still unhappily wondering what’s in it for them.

  1. We all want to achieve success, but we need to remember that success in not a specific achievement.  Success is not crossing over some arbitrary finishing line.  It’s the ability to fight the good fight day in and day out.  Success is strength – the strength to keep pushing and to keep living your life on your own terms.  Success isn’t an end result.  It’s a state of being.  You don’t win success.  You are a success every day.

  1. It may give you little comfort to think about how you’re still waist deep in the struggle, but the truth is you are one of the strong people with the guts to keep at it.  Many people give up before they even begin, but not you.  No, you wake up every day and get things done.  You crawl inch by inch against the current because you refuse to give up.  You refuse to accept mediocrity.  You refuse to listen to others when they tell you that you’re not good enough.  You’re still in it, fighting the good fight.

  1. It’s important that we forgive ourselves for making mistakes.  We need to learn from our errors and move forward.  Make a pact with yourself today to not be defined by your past.  Sometimes the greatest thing to come out of all your hard work isn’t what you get for it, but what you learn from it.  A happy, successful life, after all, is not a life absent of problems, but one that’s been able to rise above them.

  1. Today can be great, but only if you make it so. – Why do we often feel so powerless?  Because we convince ourselves that we are.  We wait for things to be given to us – entitlements.  But in life, there are no true entitlements, and the truth is that if you want something then you need to make it happen for yourself.  You need to work for it.  Whether or not today is a great day doesn’t depend on the weather.  It doesn’t depend on your “mood” (that’s also within your control).  It doesn’t depend on anyone else.  If you want to have a pleasant and productive day then choose to have one.  It’s all about your perception and what you choose to believe and do.
Sometimes the best ideas are the simple ones. Case in point, about a year ago I ran across a young man on the river walk in San Antonio. He was at a little stand selling what he called “POSITIVE PINS.” This of course caught my attention right away so I stopped.  His name was Jonathan Garza and what a fine young man he was/ is.  His positive pins are magnetic pins that go on your lapel.  The pin is a small thought cloud with a plus sign in the center.  The theme of the pin as described on its package is:

“the Symbol says it all!  Clip this magnetic Positive Pin to your clothing and let it serve as a reminder to you and the world that you choose to think positive thoughts more often. It’s proven that we become what we think about and if you look on the positive side of life more often your life becomes more enjoyable and successful.  Wear it, share it.”

So true!  So how is this a new patient project?  Well it’s not in the same vein as a screening, or a patient appreciation week etc.  However what it is, is a small something, a gift you can give friends, patients, potential patients, and I can assure you, they will remember you. If these remember you, they come see you.  It’s all about present time consciousness.   Keeping you in the front of others minds.  I have ordered and handed out hundreds of these with tremendous effect.  Check out the below links, order some. Use my name when you contact Jonathan. He will take care of you. And did I mention these wear cheap?  $5.00.

THE TOP THREE REASONS CHIROPRACTORS STAY STUCK:

-Failure to adapt and Imagine
-They stay stuck on the last idea, versus focusing on the future.
-They don't own it.

To communicate Chiropractic successfully and efficiently, you must own Chiropractic first.  Adapt, imagine, see it first, and look forward never in the rear view mirror. Reverse these tendencies and you release the brake.

DRJAY Over the weekend I had dinner with a friend I had only recently met. He asked me about pain he was having, and what the doctors were doing.. We discussed the general topic of health , how the body works, self healing and regulating, and Chiropractic. Here is an outline of the discussion. you can use it as a guide any time you are trying to help someone get it.... remember illustrations get the big idea across the plate..

1- the brain is the master control system. just like the power generator on the pole outside your home.
2- Down from the brain is the brain stem, it hangs or extends down a few inches...
3- Below that or next is your spinal cord...
4- out from the spinal cord extends or branches nerve roots and then nerves...
5- to protect this delicate master control system the power of the universe wrapped it in hard bone.
6- the skull is solid bone pretty much
7- the stem and cord are protected with vertebra..
8- vertebra cant be solid or one unit other wise you would not be able to move. you would be rigid
9-so the vertebra are in 24 segments that move and glide on one another.
10- You might liken this system to the fuse box in your home... master power box on the pole, large ele cord to the house, to the fuse box. and smaller wires extent out in the house..and control everything
11- if one of the breakers or fuses trips, the power to the appliance at the end of that electrical wire, goes off, and the appliance goes off.
12- we have all had the experience of a breaker tripping in our homes fuse box and a light go out, or a fridge turn off. etc...
13- your delicate nerves exit between the vertebra.
14- if one of those vertebra turns or locks in a mal or wrong position it pinches the nerve.
15- this causes the organ, or whatever is at the end of that nerve to either shut down or off, or at best not work as well as it could work...just like a flipped breaker.
16- stop here and ask if that makes sense to them?
17- what a chiropractor does is makes sure the vertebra move properly, restore movement and or function to the segment or segments not moving properly interfering or inching the nerves.
18- when that movement is restored, as well as proper alignment, then the exiting nerves also work to their maximum capacity without interference.
19 -this keeps a balance of health, and enables the body to function to full capacity, and full health or potential.
20- the medical solution on the other hand is to introduce a chemical to restore health to the body under the theory that there is a lack of a chemical or chemical imbalance..
21- the challenge is guessing what chemical and how much
22- in addition any chemical added to the body creates another reaction or side effect...
23- there is no side effect to an adjustment or properly moving spine..
24- the medical solution doesn’t really address the cause of the problem, it mostly addresses the symptom of the problem..
25- you might liken it to driving down the road and your car oil light comes on..
26- what would that mean when the light comes on? ASK
27- what would you do when that oil light comes on?
28- would you put dark electrical duct tape over the light and assume you dont need oil?
29 - if not why not?
30- most medicine addresses the symptom, and would be the same as tape over the oil light. it doesn’t correct the cause or the oil light coming on...
31- does that make sense? ASK INTERACT
32- what is the end result or using chemicals to treat disease?
33- in the USA doctor caused is the 4th leading cause of death.. meaning doctors treatment for disease is the 4th leading cause people die..
34- of 43 nations in the world as far as health is concerned, the USA is number 38. that means there are 37 countries in the world healthier than we are. and only 5 worse off..
35- Would you consider that successful? ASK INTERACT?
36- it would mean that our health care system is not working would you agree?
37- based on the difference which system of heath delivery makes sense to you?
38- INTERACT, FIELD QUESTIONS AND OPEN A DISCUSSION....ASK QUESTONS. THEN TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL ONCE YOU ARE CONVINCED THEY GET IT....
39- Does it make sense for you to be here. getting better and fully functioning nerve flow while the rest your family stays home?

Truth be told, if someone hurts you, chances are, they have been hurt themselves. So do your best to never take anything too personally. Don’t let compliments get to your head and don’t let insults get to your heart. Most people can only give others what they have received themselves. All your actions and words should come from a place of love, but not everyone will be loving in return, and that’s OK. When you do not take anything personally, you liberate yourself. You can open yourself to the world, freely, and not have to worry about the judgments of others.

  1. While modern technology can be life-changing in many beneficial ways, there is an aspect of this technology that greatly interferes with our lives and relationships.  Do not be so addicted to a screen that you miss out on the opportunity to enjoy real life unfolding in front of you.  Learn to disconnect.  Learn to slow down.  Give people your full and undivided attention.  Do not seek mindless stimulation on a screen for no reasons, and refocus on nurturing real human connections.

We sometimes allow the wrong people to take up too much space in our heads and hearts.  We meet energy vampires. These individuals will try to get to you – they will try to influence you and become a part of your life because they find their own life to be mundane.  They already poisoned their own lives and now they are looking to poison yours.  Don’t let them get to you. Avoid them as if they have a DIS-ease.

  1. Do not be a constant complainer.  It doesn’t help you and it certainly doesn’t help your relationships.  If you do not like your current situation, work towards changing it, but don’t just sit around complaining about it.  Complaining will only make others nearby not want to be around you.  Be someone that looks at the positive aspects of situations.  And if you do find a problem that needs to be addressed, be someone that suggests a solution.  The bottom line is that you will never get to where you want to be by complaining about where you are now.  Each step in your life is preparing you for the one that comes after it.

An interesting thing happened the other day that I want to share with you.  Within an hour of each other I received telephone calls from two doctors I work with as their coach.  They practice a few  miles apart in the same city.  One doctor couldn't wait to share GREAT NEWS with me.  Seems he had just completed his biggest day in  four years of private practice .   His  numbers have been climbing.   The other call was not that pleasant.  That doctor was depressed with his numbers which haven't seen significant growth.   He told me he was so discouraged that he was even considering working nights and weekends selling furniture or something like that.

The doc with the growing practice raved stating that "all he was doing was what he had learned."  He went on to say that he  was doing everything "EXACTLY THE WAY IT WAS PRESCRIBED.” He told me about his  ENTHUSIASTIC CA's and about their EXCITEMENT OVER THE PRACTICE. In addition to experiencing the opportunity to HELP MORE PEOPLE GET WELL AND STAY HEALTHY, The two CA'S will now reach their BONUS LEVEL for the third straight month. You have to admit, that is a lot to be happy about!

Now to the other Doc.  I reviewed with him several things that we had earlier agreed were needed to move him forward and guess what,  he still hasn't done them. Has replaced his front desk CA twice since the first of the year and he is collecting only about 65% for services provided.    There's more, the doctor is still not doing much of anything, is not making long term recommendations on a regular basis  and has had only one referral this month.   Is this one hard to figure out, or what? NOT J

I am always frustrated to hear of any doctor that is struggling but It is even more frustrating to realize it doesn't have to be that way. EVERYTHING THAT IS AVAILABLE TO DOCTOR NUMBER ONE IS EQUALLY AVAILABLE TO DOCTOR NUMBER TWO.  Could it be a bad attitude, loss of focus or purpose or could it be that deep down inside this one person wants it more than the other?   What I teach you is not based in theory but rather in actual day to day application in every economic environment.  SIMPLY PUT, IT WORKS!!!!   Hopefully you identify with Doctor number one....
Life is change.  Everyone has gone through something that has changed them in a way that prevents them from being the same person they once were.  This is a very good thing, as long as you keep learning and stretching yourself, change is growth.

Sometimes you have to accept the fact that things will never go back to how they used to be, and that this ending is really a new beginning.

People who have the greatest potential for renewed happiness seem to have specific “aha” moments that totally change the trajectory of their thoughts and behaviors.  Once this “aha” light bulb goes off in their minds, they awaken to a new reality that motivates them to never go back to their old way of doing things.

In short, these “aha” moments mean they got it.  Whatever it was they were doing or thinking that was holding them back, is now a lesson learned and a thing of the past.

  1. Nothing is ever as bad as it seems.  Nothing!  There is a benefit and a blessing hidden in the folds of every experience and every outcome.  Consider the possibility that the little obstacles in your life’s path are not obstacles at all, but stepping-stones to amazing places.

DAY TWO BASICS FOR REVIEW

1- Your CA give the patient a warm and inviting greeting on the second day when entering. Double handed handshake.
2- CA guides  patient to the report of findings room.
3- Report of findings room is the nicest, most professional room in your clinic. It’s a WOW room.

5- Doctor gives complete  report of findings to the patient, using the "51 steps" outline, never skipping steps.
6- Doctor review x rays with patient
7- Doctor uses the smoke alarm drill to show patient pain is not the problem.
8- Doctor gives long term, non symptom recommendations.
9- Doctor gives patient a day two book with instructions
10- Doctor gives patient a chiropractic emergency card to carry with them.
11- Doctor adjust patient for the first time, and gives home instructions.
12- Doctor takes patient to the CA for a financial consult.
13- CA reviews all forms, has them signed, copies to patient, and files the forms in patients file.
14- Front desk ca gives patient their mult appointment card, and pre schedules at least 12 visits in advance.  (note, these 12 visits are not the entire recommendations the doctor gave the patient, the CA is simply  pre scheduling the first 12 visits in advance.)

15- Front desk CA makes not in the appointment book when the 12th visit is scheduled, so that the second set of  mult appointment cards can be given on that day.
16- Health care class is scheduled with the patient, this is given preferably within 3 days of the first visit.
17- CA gives patient warm send off.
18-  Doctor calls the patient at the end of the day, to see how the new patient is doing after their first adjustment.

  1. Every success has a trail of failures behind it, and every failure is leading toward success.  Oftentimes our greatest insight comes from our failure, not from our accomplishments.  It’s a matter of taking each lesson and stepping forward with it.  At the end of the day, whether you choose to go with it, flow with it, resist it, change it, or hide from it, life goes on.  If what you did today didn’t turn out as you hoped, tomorrow is a new opportunity try again, or to do something totally different.  What’s important is to realize that you have a choice.

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

  1. Never let your past dictate who you are today, but let it be a lesson that’s part of who you will become tomorrow.  No regrets.  No looking back in anger.  Just hold on to life and move forward.  We have no way of knowing what lies ahead, but that’s what makes the journey even more exciting – that’s what makes life worth living today.  Happy people know this, and that’s precisely why they make the most of the present.

Monday, August 4, 2014

The happiest people do not live with a certain set of circumstances, but rather with a certain set of attitudes.  They have the ability to manufacture their own optimism.  People who think optimistically see the world as a place packed with endless opportunities, especially in trying times.

Happy, successful people are often successful in the long run for one simple reason: they think about success and failure differently.  They don’t take everything that goes wrong personally, and they don’t get a big head when everything goes right either.  Follow in their footsteps.  Be a humble, life-long learner.  Never let success get to your head and never let failure get to your heart.

How you respond to the hard times is what shapes your character.  Remember, you become what you believe.  Look at things objectively.  Find the lesson and move forward.  Don’t let a hard lesson harden your heart for too long nor stop your pursuit of success for one moment!
  1. Gratitude is arguably the king of happiness.  What’s the research say?  Can’t be any more clear than Dr. Sonja Lyubomirsky’s insight in The How of Happiness: “…the more a person is inclined to gratitude, the less likely he or she is to be depressed, anxious, lonely, envious, or neurotic.”  Bottom line:  Consider how very fortunate you are.  Consider it every day.  The more you count your blessings, the more blessings there will be to count, and the happier you will be.

Monday, July 28, 2014

The second experience to share happened this past weekend when out of town visiting relatives. The first night there we ate at a restaurant that was totally packed with people. There was a line out the door. Food was great, service better, and the vibe was unmistakable.  The next night we ate at a place about a block away. Although the establishment was there for over a decade the place was close to empty. I asked our waitress what the deal was and she said the reason was it was hot outside, summer time vacations, the time of year, and about three other reasons.  The food was fair, service ok, and the vibe was dead.

Obviously the external factors mentioned would have effected both places equally so they couldn't be the reasons. The internal factors effected both office also and made the difference. The point being you have to honestly look at your office and analyze it.  What factors is keeping it where it is?  Is it the area, weather, time of year, location, or is it something or a series of things internal?

Let me list the classic reasons one office goes flat while another down the street booms.

- front desk person
-people person skills of the doctor or lack thereof.
- infrequent promotions
- poor procedures
- stress somewhere with staff or the doctor -lack of focus, distractions -lack of motivation and passion, purpose -cross purposes

So take a moment this week and honestly look are your situation.  Use the above as a check list. Improve what you can. Change what you need to change. Toss out what holds you back.
On this Marvelous and Miraculous Monday, I've decided to start the week with everyone's favorite segment, "Dumbass Things People Say".
By the end of the week, most people that Practice Chiropractic as it was founded and developed, In it's Purest and Most Effective Form, may get to hear this one. Following a Specific, Scientific, Chiropractic Adjustment, the recipient utters the Dumbass statement of The week, saying, "That's it?"

This is typically coming from a person that's spent hundreds of hours in other Drs offices, days in hospitals and years in misery. Every procedure they've experienced, up to this point, has been an extremely time consuming experience in futility.
Here's a question for you... If I had my hands around your throat and was choking the life out of you, I'd only have to do ONE THING!!! Let go... At that point, would you look at me and say, "That's it?"? Would you prefer that before I let go, I got a manicure or gave you a shave??? Would you require an in depth diagnosis detailing all the evidence that's available to confirm you're choking prior to or during the process of me letting go??? Maybe some MRIs or Scans of some kind that are read by a genius somewhere that assure me that you're really choking...

The only thing that would be required for you to BEGIN getting your life back would be me Letting Go!!! Understand that when Pressure exists on your brainstem, It is choking the Life out of you. Usually Slowly, most of the time WITHOUT any Pain or symptoms at all. The Brain-> Body Connection is the Source of ALL LIFE in the human body. The Most Skillful, Highly Trained and Technologically Advanced Practitioners can remove that Interference in seconds. It takes longer to determine the proper Application, area and Factors involved in determining the Force to be Applied than it does to deliver The Proper Adjustment. Once THAT happens, LIFE is instantly Restored. THAT is EVERYTHING!!!
If my child was drowning, I wouldn't be too happy if The Life Guard wanted a thorough Family History to determine if my grandparents had problems swimming as well prior to saving my child's LIFE... Until Pressure is Removed from your Brain-> Body Connection, your child may get to the Surface occasionally, But they're STILL in the Pool!!!

This week, if somebody says, "That's it?" Maybe you should choke the living daylights out of that Dumbass...

Love Y'all Mucho!!!

Just to clear this up with "The Authorities", This information is figurative in nature. Please don't choke anybody this week...

This week I wanted to share with you two different experiences I have had over the years. The first is one of my favorite stories of the chiropractor who attend a Parker seminar for the first time. On entering the seminar a friend asked him how many patient visits he was seeing a week average to which he replied "50 visits." When he was leaving the seminar Sunday someone he didn't know asked him the same question to which he replied " I'm seeing 500 visits."

Having been on the mentoring side of the profession for nearly 30 years I can't tell you how many platform speakers I have heard talk about their numbers. Knowing them personally and mentoring most I knew the real stats were half of what was presented.  I even had a client once in private consultation tell me about how big his numbers were, but when he presented his stat sheet for review it was only a fraction.  I remember thinking to myself "doesn't this guy realize I am the same person? " The bottom line is don't fall into the trap of comparing your numbers to someone else. You just might be listening to am illusion. Compare yourself to you alone, your progress and effort.

Don’t let the past steal your present.  Your past has not defined, deterred, or defeated you.  It has only strengthened who you are today.  Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask yourself if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future.

Then make every day count. – What you do daily matters more than what you do every once in awhile.  Your life will not improve unless you start making daily improvements.  It’s not about being the smartest, it’s about making the smartest decision. It’s not about being right, it’s about doing the right things.

Goals are important but they are temporary.  Values on the other hand are forever.  Raise your standards by taking a values-driven, not just a goal-focused, approach to life. Walk the talk and always set a great example. – Be the change you want to see. Give what you expect, reflect what you desire, become what you respect, and mirror what you admire.

Monday, July 21, 2014

At some point we all wonder, “Why is it so impossible to get everything done?”  But the answer is stunningly simple: We’re doing too many of the wrong things.

Several research studies have shown that people never get more done by blindly working more hours on everything that comes up.  Instead, they get more done when they follow careful plans that measure and track key priorities and milestones.  So if you want to be more successful and less stressed, don’t ask how to make something more efficient until you’ve first asked, “Do I need to do this at all?”

Simply being able to do something well does not make it the right thing to do.  I think this is one of the most common problems with a lot of time-management advice; too often productivity gurus focus on how to do things quickly, but the vast majority of things people do quickly should not be done at all.

If you think about it, it’s actually kind of ironic that we complain we have so little time, and then we prioritize like time is infinite.  So do your best to focus on what’s truly important, and not much else.
You are a victim of the beliefs you live by.  And a belief is not merely an idea the mind possesses, it is an idea that possesses the mind.  So believe in yourself.  Believe in your capacity to succeed.  Believe that the answers are out there waiting.  Believe that life will surprise you again and again.  Believe that the journey is the destination.  Believe that it’s all worth your while.

The most underrated trait of all successful people I’ve ever met: Positivity.  Your attitude directly determines how well you live your life. They appreciate what they have. – Every now and then it’s good to pause in your pursuit of happiness, look around, and simply be happy for what you already have in your life.

Let me take a moment and share with you a little secret about the modern day consulting business and some seminars you may have recently attended. Most mentors and coaches won’t share this information with you because it reveals what I refer to as a “ cross purpose.”  Here is how it works:

1-      You hear of a seminar that is popular and a friend recommends it.  For this purpose let’s say the seminar is on “ Financial Freedom.”
2-      You attend this seminar, many times it is a one day intro at a lower cost, and you like what you hear. Based on that and the referral you join it.
3-      Next you attend a full weekend, the seminar is great and you learn a lot.
4-      At the seminar there is a guest speaker, or sometimes several.  This guest expert has a program such as “ New Patients”  or “ Patient Conversion.”
5-      You are invited to attend this speakers boot camp or seminar.
6-      You join this program also.

Here is what you don’t know:

1-      These mentors are inter referring to themselves. It is modern day marketing, or networking.
2-      Most of these mentors give each other referral fees or a piece of the action.  At a minimum the least the benefit to the consultant is a paying client, IE: You.

The Problem:

1-      You end up joining a host of mentors and consultants all feeding off of you, many you don’t need.
2-      Your overhead and costs skyrocket, offsetting the benefits .
3-      Cross purpose. This is the big one in my book.  You get “sold”, “Closed” or “recommended” product or service, not because you really need it, but rather because the mentor gets a cut of it.
4-      Your mentors make a ton of money off of you, you end up with less money than before.
5-      While some of these programs are actually very good, the combined memberships and cost outlays many times offset the increase or benefit.

It’s a natural desire to belong, and or be social. Attending seminars in my opinion is like putting gas in your car. Having a mentor is also a good idea, one that has experience down the road you wish to travel.  At the same time my advice it to keep your eyes open and hands on your wallet.   Observe this the next one of these seminars you attend, many have a prior agenda for you.  Remember the goal is to keep your money in your bank account, not someone else’s.  Above all else remember your # 1 BUSINESS GOAL in practice is LOW OVERHEAD, HIGH PROFIT.

  1. Having an excessive preoccupation with happiness can actually lead to an unhealthy attitude towards negative emotions and experiences.  Mentally strong people don’t try to avoid negative emotions – rather, they accept both positive and negative emotions and let these feelings coexist.  This is a key component of their resiliency.  Trying to be happy 24/7 is futile; we need to focus on being whole instead.  Disappointment, frustration, sadness and failure are part of your wholeness – all of these things help make you who we are.  Happiness, victory and fulfillment are nice things that also happen to you, but they don’t teach you and help you grow nearly as much.

The right thing at the wrong time is the wrong thing.  And when it comes to your goals, later is always the wrong time to do the right thing.  Why?  Because time is passing.  So stop waiting for the right time; it will never come.  Make a decision and take a chance.  You have to dare to do it, because life is too short

  1. There’s an adage in the ancient philosophy of Stoicism, “There is no good or bad, there is only perception,” which was later echoed in Shakespeare’s famous quote, “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”  Truth be told, the way we perceive a situation has tremendous power to either help us or harm us.  So often, we react emotionally and project negative judgments onto a situation, when the first key to overcoming a challenge is to view things objectively.  In the long run, it usually isn’t what you have or where you are or what you’ve been through that makes or breaks you; it’s how you think about it all and what you do next.

The path of least resistance is often the path of least reward. You need to do hard things. There are no shortcuts to any place worth going. As Einstein once said, “Genius is 1% talent and 99% percent hard work.” You must run to be a runner. You must write to be a writer. You must actively work on your practice to learn how to run a successful business. There is no substitute for doing the work. So meditate on this every day: “I will do the work. It won’t be easy. It will be worth it!”

MESSAGE FROM DOCTOR JAY

I wanted to share an interesting experience that happened to me a few days ago. It has nothing to do with Chiropractic, yet at the same time it has everything to do with Chiropractic.  Over the 4th holiday I had a house full of Chiro friends coming to visit.  On my back deck I had a large Palm tree in a larger pot.  A few months ago due to overwatering apparently it died and I had it removed.  I had been planning on replacing it, but as happens, I put it off until the last minute.  Realizing we were getting close to the 4th party with this large empty, and ugly pot on my back deck, I went to the landscaping place, and found a huge yucca cactus/palm that was awesome, and bought it.  The plant being large would need a truck and at least three men to handle it.  After paying for the plant and discussing deliver details with the saleswoman things went like this:

1-      Sales person:  The manager said the earlier we can deliver is 3-4 weeks from now.
2-      Jay: I have a party in 2 days and need it immediately.
3-      Salesperson:  So sorry the manager said 3 weeks at the earliest.
4-      Jay : May I speak with the manager?
5-      Manager:  I’m sorry Jay we have a backlog for delivery, I can get it there earlier than 3 weeks but for certain not before your party.
6-      Jay:  Any way you can talk to your men and see if they are willing to make a deliver after work and make some extra cash?
7-      Manager: Let me ask and I will call you.
8-      Manager:  Calls Jay 15 minutes later on cell….” We are on our way and will be at your house in 45 minutes.

Synopsis:  The Yucca looks awesome on the back porch and was delivered within 2 hours of purchase.  Why this story?  Simple: It is a Chiropractic story, and more so a success story.  Most Chiros when facing an obstacle or objection simply fold their tent assuming that is the end of the road.  Rarely is it the end of the road, it is normally just the opposite, the start of the road.  The key is persistence, asking, straying consistent, effort, pushing, and never giving in or up.  Just like that yucca plant, your practice grows for the same reasons and with the same effort. So ask yourself:

1-      Am I pushing?
2-      Do I give up easy?
3-      What is my effort level honestly?
4-      Am I consistent?
5-      If my life or the lives of my family were on the line, would my effort be enough to save them?

Now translate the above 5 steps to your practice. Make is your resolve to bring it all up a level each week. In 90 days, your practice with be humming. That my friend is a guarantee!
