The second experience to share happened this past weekend when out of town visiting relatives. The first night there we ate at a restaurant that was totally packed with people. There was a line out the door. Food was great, service better, and the vibe was unmistakable.  The next night we ate at a place about a block away. Although the establishment was there for over a decade the place was close to empty. I asked our waitress what the deal was and she said the reason was it was hot outside, summer time vacations, the time of year, and about three other reasons.  The food was fair, service ok, and the vibe was dead.

Obviously the external factors mentioned would have effected both places equally so they couldn't be the reasons. The internal factors effected both office also and made the difference. The point being you have to honestly look at your office and analyze it.  What factors is keeping it where it is?  Is it the area, weather, time of year, location, or is it something or a series of things internal?

Let me list the classic reasons one office goes flat while another down the street booms.

- front desk person
-people person skills of the doctor or lack thereof.
- infrequent promotions
- poor procedures
- stress somewhere with staff or the doctor -lack of focus, distractions -lack of motivation and passion, purpose -cross purposes

So take a moment this week and honestly look are your situation.  Use the above as a check list. Improve what you can. Change what you need to change. Toss out what holds you back.
On this Marvelous and Miraculous Monday, I've decided to start the week with everyone's favorite segment, "Dumbass Things People Say".
By the end of the week, most people that Practice Chiropractic as it was founded and developed, In it's Purest and Most Effective Form, may get to hear this one. Following a Specific, Scientific, Chiropractic Adjustment, the recipient utters the Dumbass statement of The week, saying, "That's it?"

This is typically coming from a person that's spent hundreds of hours in other Drs offices, days in hospitals and years in misery. Every procedure they've experienced, up to this point, has been an extremely time consuming experience in futility.
Here's a question for you... If I had my hands around your throat and was choking the life out of you, I'd only have to do ONE THING!!! Let go... At that point, would you look at me and say, "That's it?"? Would you prefer that before I let go, I got a manicure or gave you a shave??? Would you require an in depth diagnosis detailing all the evidence that's available to confirm you're choking prior to or during the process of me letting go??? Maybe some MRIs or Scans of some kind that are read by a genius somewhere that assure me that you're really choking...

The only thing that would be required for you to BEGIN getting your life back would be me Letting Go!!! Understand that when Pressure exists on your brainstem, It is choking the Life out of you. Usually Slowly, most of the time WITHOUT any Pain or symptoms at all. The Brain-> Body Connection is the Source of ALL LIFE in the human body. The Most Skillful, Highly Trained and Technologically Advanced Practitioners can remove that Interference in seconds. It takes longer to determine the proper Application, area and Factors involved in determining the Force to be Applied than it does to deliver The Proper Adjustment. Once THAT happens, LIFE is instantly Restored. THAT is EVERYTHING!!!
If my child was drowning, I wouldn't be too happy if The Life Guard wanted a thorough Family History to determine if my grandparents had problems swimming as well prior to saving my child's LIFE... Until Pressure is Removed from your Brain-> Body Connection, your child may get to the Surface occasionally, But they're STILL in the Pool!!!

This week, if somebody says, "That's it?" Maybe you should choke the living daylights out of that Dumbass...

Love Y'all Mucho!!!

Just to clear this up with "The Authorities", This information is figurative in nature. Please don't choke anybody this week...

This week I wanted to share with you two different experiences I have had over the years. The first is one of my favorite stories of the chiropractor who attend a Parker seminar for the first time. On entering the seminar a friend asked him how many patient visits he was seeing a week average to which he replied "50 visits." When he was leaving the seminar Sunday someone he didn't know asked him the same question to which he replied " I'm seeing 500 visits."

Having been on the mentoring side of the profession for nearly 30 years I can't tell you how many platform speakers I have heard talk about their numbers. Knowing them personally and mentoring most I knew the real stats were half of what was presented.  I even had a client once in private consultation tell me about how big his numbers were, but when he presented his stat sheet for review it was only a fraction.  I remember thinking to myself "doesn't this guy realize I am the same person? " The bottom line is don't fall into the trap of comparing your numbers to someone else. You just might be listening to am illusion. Compare yourself to you alone, your progress and effort.

Don’t let the past steal your present.  Your past has not defined, deterred, or defeated you.  It has only strengthened who you are today.  Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask yourself if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future.

Then make every day count. – What you do daily matters more than what you do every once in awhile.  Your life will not improve unless you start making daily improvements.  It’s not about being the smartest, it’s about making the smartest decision. It’s not about being right, it’s about doing the right things.

Goals are important but they are temporary.  Values on the other hand are forever.  Raise your standards by taking a values-driven, not just a goal-focused, approach to life. Walk the talk and always set a great example. – Be the change you want to see. Give what you expect, reflect what you desire, become what you respect, and mirror what you admire.

At some point we all wonder, “Why is it so impossible to get everything done?”  But the answer is stunningly simple: We’re doing too many of the wrong things.

Several research studies have shown that people never get more done by blindly working more hours on everything that comes up.  Instead, they get more done when they follow careful plans that measure and track key priorities and milestones.  So if you want to be more successful and less stressed, don’t ask how to make something more efficient until you’ve first asked, “Do I need to do this at all?”

Simply being able to do something well does not make it the right thing to do.  I think this is one of the most common problems with a lot of time-management advice; too often productivity gurus focus on how to do things quickly, but the vast majority of things people do quickly should not be done at all.

If you think about it, it’s actually kind of ironic that we complain we have so little time, and then we prioritize like time is infinite.  So do your best to focus on what’s truly important, and not much else.
You are a victim of the beliefs you live by.  And a belief is not merely an idea the mind possesses, it is an idea that possesses the mind.  So believe in yourself.  Believe in your capacity to succeed.  Believe that the answers are out there waiting.  Believe that life will surprise you again and again.  Believe that the journey is the destination.  Believe that it’s all worth your while.

The most underrated trait of all successful people I’ve ever met: Positivity.  Your attitude directly determines how well you live your life. They appreciate what they have. – Every now and then it’s good to pause in your pursuit of happiness, look around, and simply be happy for what you already have in your life.

Let me take a moment and share with you a little secret about the modern day consulting business and some seminars you may have recently attended. Most mentors and coaches won’t share this information with you because it reveals what I refer to as a “ cross purpose.”  Here is how it works:

1-      You hear of a seminar that is popular and a friend recommends it.  For this purpose let’s say the seminar is on “ Financial Freedom.”
2-      You attend this seminar, many times it is a one day intro at a lower cost, and you like what you hear. Based on that and the referral you join it.
3-      Next you attend a full weekend, the seminar is great and you learn a lot.
4-      At the seminar there is a guest speaker, or sometimes several.  This guest expert has a program such as “ New Patients”  or “ Patient Conversion.”
5-      You are invited to attend this speakers boot camp or seminar.
6-      You join this program also.

Here is what you don’t know:

1-      These mentors are inter referring to themselves. It is modern day marketing, or networking.
2-      Most of these mentors give each other referral fees or a piece of the action.  At a minimum the least the benefit to the consultant is a paying client, IE: You.

The Problem:

1-      You end up joining a host of mentors and consultants all feeding off of you, many you don’t need.
2-      Your overhead and costs skyrocket, offsetting the benefits .
3-      Cross purpose. This is the big one in my book.  You get “sold”, “Closed” or “recommended” product or service, not because you really need it, but rather because the mentor gets a cut of it.
4-      Your mentors make a ton of money off of you, you end up with less money than before.
5-      While some of these programs are actually very good, the combined memberships and cost outlays many times offset the increase or benefit.

It’s a natural desire to belong, and or be social. Attending seminars in my opinion is like putting gas in your car. Having a mentor is also a good idea, one that has experience down the road you wish to travel.  At the same time my advice it to keep your eyes open and hands on your wallet.   Observe this the next one of these seminars you attend, many have a prior agenda for you.  Remember the goal is to keep your money in your bank account, not someone else’s.  Above all else remember your # 1 BUSINESS GOAL in practice is LOW OVERHEAD, HIGH PROFIT.

  1. Having an excessive preoccupation with happiness can actually lead to an unhealthy attitude towards negative emotions and experiences.  Mentally strong people don’t try to avoid negative emotions – rather, they accept both positive and negative emotions and let these feelings coexist.  This is a key component of their resiliency.  Trying to be happy 24/7 is futile; we need to focus on being whole instead.  Disappointment, frustration, sadness and failure are part of your wholeness – all of these things help make you who we are.  Happiness, victory and fulfillment are nice things that also happen to you, but they don’t teach you and help you grow nearly as much.

The right thing at the wrong time is the wrong thing.  And when it comes to your goals, later is always the wrong time to do the right thing.  Why?  Because time is passing.  So stop waiting for the right time; it will never come.  Make a decision and take a chance.  You have to dare to do it, because life is too short

  1. There’s an adage in the ancient philosophy of Stoicism, “There is no good or bad, there is only perception,” which was later echoed in Shakespeare’s famous quote, “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.”  Truth be told, the way we perceive a situation has tremendous power to either help us or harm us.  So often, we react emotionally and project negative judgments onto a situation, when the first key to overcoming a challenge is to view things objectively.  In the long run, it usually isn’t what you have or where you are or what you’ve been through that makes or breaks you; it’s how you think about it all and what you do next.

The path of least resistance is often the path of least reward. You need to do hard things. There are no shortcuts to any place worth going. As Einstein once said, “Genius is 1% talent and 99% percent hard work.” You must run to be a runner. You must write to be a writer. You must actively work on your practice to learn how to run a successful business. There is no substitute for doing the work. So meditate on this every day: “I will do the work. It won’t be easy. It will be worth it!”

MESSAGE FROM DOCTOR JAY

I wanted to share an interesting experience that happened to me a few days ago. It has nothing to do with Chiropractic, yet at the same time it has everything to do with Chiropractic.  Over the 4th holiday I had a house full of Chiro friends coming to visit.  On my back deck I had a large Palm tree in a larger pot.  A few months ago due to overwatering apparently it died and I had it removed.  I had been planning on replacing it, but as happens, I put it off until the last minute.  Realizing we were getting close to the 4th party with this large empty, and ugly pot on my back deck, I went to the landscaping place, and found a huge yucca cactus/palm that was awesome, and bought it.  The plant being large would need a truck and at least three men to handle it.  After paying for the plant and discussing deliver details with the saleswoman things went like this:

1-      Sales person:  The manager said the earlier we can deliver is 3-4 weeks from now.
2-      Jay: I have a party in 2 days and need it immediately.
3-      Salesperson:  So sorry the manager said 3 weeks at the earliest.
4-      Jay : May I speak with the manager?
5-      Manager:  I’m sorry Jay we have a backlog for delivery, I can get it there earlier than 3 weeks but for certain not before your party.
6-      Jay:  Any way you can talk to your men and see if they are willing to make a deliver after work and make some extra cash?
7-      Manager: Let me ask and I will call you.
8-      Manager:  Calls Jay 15 minutes later on cell….” We are on our way and will be at your house in 45 minutes.

Synopsis:  The Yucca looks awesome on the back porch and was delivered within 2 hours of purchase.  Why this story?  Simple: It is a Chiropractic story, and more so a success story.  Most Chiros when facing an obstacle or objection simply fold their tent assuming that is the end of the road.  Rarely is it the end of the road, it is normally just the opposite, the start of the road.  The key is persistence, asking, straying consistent, effort, pushing, and never giving in or up.  Just like that yucca plant, your practice grows for the same reasons and with the same effort. So ask yourself:

1-      Am I pushing?
2-      Do I give up easy?
3-      What is my effort level honestly?
4-      Am I consistent?
5-      If my life or the lives of my family were on the line, would my effort be enough to save them?

Now translate the above 5 steps to your practice. Make is your resolve to bring it all up a level each week. In 90 days, your practice with be humming. That my friend is a guarantee!
  1. Have you ever met a happy, successful person who regularly avoids responsibility, blames and points fingers and makes excuses for their unsatisfying lives?  Me either.  Because happy, success people are mentally strong.  They accept responsibility for how their lives unfold.  They believe their own happiness and success is a byproduct of their own thinking, beliefs, attitudes, character and behavior.
The way we perceive a situation has tremendous power to either help us or harm us.  So often, we react emotionally and project negative judgments onto a situation, when the first key to overcoming a challenge is to view things objectively.  In the long run, it usually isn’t what you have or where you are or what you’ve been through that makes or breaks you; it’s how you think about it all and what you do next.

In your interactions with others, nothing you can give is more appreciated than your sincere, focused attention – your full presence.  Being with someone, listening without a clock and without anticipation of the next event is the ultimate compliment.  It is indeed the most valued gesture you can make to another human being.

Your patients, friends and family are too beautiful to ignore.  So give them the gift of YOU – your time, undivided attention and kindness.  That’s better than any other gift, it won’t break or get lost, and will always be remembered.

  1. If you know the people around you aren’t the right people, you need to change the people around you.  It’s not easy, but it’s worth it.  Don’t expect to see positive changes in your life if you surround yourself with negative people.  Don’t give part-time people a full-time position in your life.  Know your value and what you have to offer, and never settle for relationships that always bring you down.

  1. Love is a verb.  Act on it.  Put your heart into goals that move you.  Work hard.  In the end, love is what makes you smile when you’re tired and still struggling.
  1.  Truth be told, there are only a few people in this world who will stay 100% true to you, and YOU should be one of them.  Prioritize your own needs into your daily to-do’s.  Invest in your education, health and happiness every single day.  Create a life that feels good on the inside, not one that just looks good on the outside to everyone else.

An awesome life is about spending your time passionately, being happy with who you are inside, and not worrying about everyone’s petty judgments.  If you want to achieve greatness, stop asking for everyone’s approval.  You don’t need anyone’s approval to follow your heart.

You need to ignore what everyone else is doing and achieving. – Your life is about breaking your own limits and outgrowing yourself to live YOUR best life.  You are not in competition with anyone else; plan to outdo your past, not other people.

Invest in yourself even when no one else is. – Truth be told, there are only a few people in this world who will stay 100% true to you, and YOU should be one of them.  Prioritize your own needs into your daily to-do’s.  Invest in your education, health and happiness every single day.  Create a life that feels good on the inside, not one that just looks good on the outside to everyone else.
